Operation Mongoose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cuban Project<\/strong>, also known as Operation Mongoose<\/strong>, was an extensive campaign of terrorist attacks<\/a> against civilians<\/a>, and covert operations<\/a>, carried out by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency<\/a> in Cuba<\/a>.[10]<\/sup><\/a> It was officially authorized on November 30, 1961, by U.S. President John F. Kennedy<\/a>. The name “Operation Mongoose<\/a>” was agreed to at a White House<\/a> meeting on November 4, 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation was run out of JMWAVE<\/a>, a major secret United States covert operations<\/a> and intelligence gathering<\/a> station on the campus of the University of Miami<\/a>.[11]<\/sup><\/a>[12]<\/sup><\/a> The operation was led by United States Air Force<\/a> General Edward Lansdale<\/a> on the military side and William King Harvey<\/a> at the CIA and went into effect after the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
